Item description for Devotions for Ministry Wives: Encouragement from Those Who've Been There by Barbara Hughes...
Overview Written by a woman with many years' experience as a pastor's wife, this devotional features 90 short, readable selections with such topics as time demands, difficult people, children, criticism, friendship, moving, privacy, and stress.
Publishers Description The wife of a minister is made of the same stuff as any other woman, but her circumstances set her apart. If you've married into the ministry, you know the difficulty of balancing the demands of your church and your family, the stresses of clergy marriage, the pressure of unrealistic expectations, and the setbacks of ministry---and the joys. Other than Jesus himself, only a ministry wife really understands what it's like to be a ministry wife. This devotional is written for you. In its pages, you'll find not only wisdom and encouragement from God's Word, but also the reassurance and solidarity of fellow ministry wives who are traveling the road with you and who know the territory. Kathy Chapell, Jeanne Hendricks, Barbara Hughes, Heather Olford, Jan Ortlund, Noel Piper, Sue Sailhamer, Paulette Washington, and many others share their experiences and their hearts in ninety daily reflections that begin with a Scripture verse and conclude with a prayer. Their insights are short, honest, intimate, and practical---and they always point you back to the One who is your ultimate source of help and guidance.

LOVED IT! Nov 30, 1999
I LOVED THIS DEVOTIONAL! IT IS NOT ONLY FOR WIVES OF PASTORS BUT FOR WOMEN THAT ARE IN MINISTRY OR WHOSE HUSBAND LEADS A MINISTRY. ALSO FOR WOMEN WHO ARE GOING TO MARRY A MAN DEDICATED TO MINISTRY. IT'S REALLY GOOD...
Not just for ministry wives! Nov 30, 1999
I am one of the contributors to this book and could hardly wait for the book's release to read what the other women had written. I have been encouraged and helped by them.
Even in a hectic season or life, the 2-page devotionals are accessible and good for any woman who wants to deepen her faith.
I recommend the book especially to ministry women who have been put off by the negative angle that many books have toward our calling, that see our lives mainly from the perspective of difficulties that come our way. The writers of DEVOTIONS FOR MINSTRY WIVES don't gloss over problems, but their outlook is definitely that they are glad to be where God has placed them.
