Reviews - What do customers think about Understanding GOD'S WORD Study Bible Hardcover?
Study section weak/ the translation is useful Jun 2, 2004
God's Word hasn't gotten the praise it deserves, due in part to its market entry at about the same time as the NLT. NLT was much more highly marketed and connected. In terms of pure accuracy and less interpretation, I prefer God's Word. For example, instead of "the LORD of Hosts" found in most Bibles, God's Word more accurately and usefully translates "LORD of Armies."
The study sections in the margin of this Bible were so abbreviated as to be of only marginal help. If you want a real study Bible, go elsewhere, like the NIV Study Bible.
The print size of the text is also a little too small for easy reading. I think it is about 9 pica. The Premier Edition of God's Word has great print layou and print size, about 11 pica; very readible and eye friendly.
The text deserves 5 stars, the study portion, maybe 2 stars.
