Reviews - What do customers think about Tithes: The Extortion of the Body of Christ?
How can they not see the instructions in Acts15:19-28 Sep 15, 2008
A worker is worthy of their wages. I don't think giving should be limited to a 10th. However, their is growing resentment when Scriptures are twisted & people feel they are being bullied, cursed with a cursed, threatened or intimidated. At no time was an instruction given to Gentile Believers to Tithe!!! All instructions on tithing was to the Jewish nation and Jews only!!!!!! Read Acts 15- verses 19-28 on the Apostles instructions to the Gentiles on OT commandments! This is ( I hope not purposefully) overlooked! Besides Jesus took all curses and penalties for us so how can they quote a scripture said to the OT Jewish nation that we are now cursed? Jesus took the curse by His death on that cross for us, I feel its a shame when they apply it to believers in Christ.
A Book Written From The Heart! Feb 19, 2008
I must admit to being a little dubious in reading a doctrinal book written by a woman. However, this little book is DY-NO-MITE! B. Ann has written a passionate book on a subject that most of us fear to even think about, much less discuss. Her approach is balanced and fair, giving the scriptural backgrounds into the tithe and why today the tithe is used as a "weapon" to beat the sheep. Don't get me wrong, she has the right outlook by saying that we are to GIVE and support the local church, but she rightly condemns the abuse of Malachi 3. Very well done.
On a side note, I find it odd for a person to do this level of research on scriptural giving and yet ignore the clear commands/directions that MEN ONLY are to hold the positions she claims to hold. Unless she only ministers to women, which she does not say, then she is wrong in trying to perform a ministry that God has commanded MEN to hold. Having said that (and swallowing hard) I admit she has written a book most men wouldn't read, much less write. But as Bob Jones Sr. said, "It is never right to do wrong to do right". The end does not justify the means.
every christian needs to read this Dec 7, 2007
This is one of the best explanations and expose's on the issue of tithing i have ever read.
Great title for what tithing is Dec 4, 2007
More and more voices are being raised up exposing the corruption of the apostate church and its' insatiable need for funding. Tithing for Christians? Not a single verse in the NT instructing any Christian or church to tithe. Not one verse. Extortion, manipulation is SOP. Quietly, lovingly, meeting a need is where the giving went in the Bible. "FREELY you have received, FREELY give", we were NEVER called to fund buildings, organizations, or ministries that call themselves Christian. The Temple is the body of Christ, not a building. "The Tithe That Binds" is a good read also. more can be found free at www.preparehisway.com
