Item description for Swept Away: Refreshing the Church with the Power of Prayer by Ron Auch...

Overview
For all the gimmicks, programs, and seminars, the real need of today's Church is to commune with God. So says author and prayer leader Ron Auch, founder of Pray-Tell Ministries. At a time when so many church leaders and members are searching for answers to what is wrong with this traditional institution, we often fail to look into our own hearts. Auch shows us how laziness and indifference have ruined our prayer lives, to the extent that the church is lacking power. After spending 20 years studying prayer and its effects on historical revivals, Auch is intent on helping Christians out of the doldrums. A convincing and convicting book.

Reviews - What do customers think about Swept Away By His Presence?

Solid spirituality  Oct 14, 2004
This book has been instrumental for me in many ways. The perspectives Ron shares are much needed. His explanations on generational shifts in spirituality supported by Biblical text are compelling and explain a lot. There is a lot covered in this book but the central theme is Prayer. In my opinion, this book is a perfect partner with his "Taught by the Spirit" which God used to change my life.

A Challenging Call to be a 1st Generation Prayer  Jan 28, 2000
Ron Auch's book on prayer issues a very strong challenge for Christians and particularly Christians leaders to know God through prayer. Auch attributes much of the decline in the Pentecostal church to the lack of meaningful prayer by pastors and leaders in the denomination. He discusses his generational theory regarding prayer and the move of God. The 1st generation are those who experienced the move of God, having understood prayer and having a real relationship with God. Following generations benefit from the previous move of God, but do not develop their own prayer relationships with God. Therefore, they miss out on the dynamic aspect of God's presence resulting in the church's current decline. Auch goes on to present how the Pentecostal denomination should seek to regain the presence of God. His writing is very appropriate for the entire Christian church which overall seems to lack the power and presence of God.
