More About Arthur Gregor
ARTHUR GREGOR, born in Vienna, fled with his family to the United States at the outbreak of World War II, eventually settling in New York. After serving as a senior editor in the trade department of The Macmillan Company during the 1960s, he joined the English faculty at Hofstra University, where he set up Creative Writing and Publishing Studies programs and was, for seven years before his retirement in 1995, Poet-in-Residence. Since his first appearance in POETRY in 1947, for which he was awarded the magazine's First Appearance Prize, his poems have been published widely in most of the leading outlets for poetry. For the past twenty years he has spent part of the year in France's Loire Valley, and in 1998 moved from New York to Paris. Gregor is the author of eleven books of poetry (including Embodiment, Secret Citizen, and That Other Side of Things), a memoir, three children's books, and three plays.
Reviews - What do customers think about The Hand Upon His Head?

Arthur Gregor paints imagery & the spiritual essence of life in minute cosmic strokes and sustained rhythmic mind/breath cadances of Michelangelo beauty. He presents the surfaces & depths exceeding Frost,Whitman, & joy that surpasses Rumi(The Poem of Heaven Within & many others,The Rescue)...or however you might believe that you love & know & are moved by poetry... he will lead you to new heights. Simple. Published for 50 years & practically unknown outside NYC & Paris. I've read his work since I found his ('80) Selected Poems; having been handed The Voice That Is Great Within Us/Carruth anthology in '78-'79 wherein are 4 of Arthur's. I've been astonished for +20 years that few if any anthologies since The Voice TIGWU,have printed him, though many occaisional poems in major magazines have; I've yet to meet any other person in my travels who has read him. I believe he will be remembered for centuries.
