Item description for I See The Moon by Kathi Appelt & Debra Reid Jenkins...
Overview A child dreams of being alone on a tiny boat at sea, until the light of the moon, the stars, and the sun safely guide her back to shore
Publishers Description A little girl dreams that she's all alone at sea in a tiny boat. It's dark, and the sea is scary. Then she sees the gentle moon, the first sign of God's love. The moon, the stars, and at last the sun lend enough light to lead her back to shore, where she realizes she was never alone at all. God has brought her safely home. Based on a traditional children's rhyme, Kathy Appelt's poetic text and Debra Reid Jenkins' imaginative and dramatic paintings, accented in gold leaf, convey a sense of mystery and wonder and make this book a perfect illustration of God's abiding love.

Reviews - What do customers think about I See The Moon?
Rather odd book for a child Mar 12, 2007
I purchased this book because my daughter, adopted internationally, was given a name at birth which refers to the moon. We have many "moon" books for bedtime. Unfortunately, this book is not so soothing, and relies rather heavily on a Christian theme, which is not what I was expecting from teh title. The child is going to bed and sees the moon, but on the next page suddenly she's "alone in a boat at sea, won't anyone rescue me." Happily, she is brought safely ashore by God. The pictures are lovely, but the story just takes an odd turn early on and may not be quite what one expects from the title.
One of our all-time favorite books! Jun 26, 2003
We received this book from a friend when we were expecting our first baby, and now, six years and three children later, it is still one of the most prized books in our family library. The rhyme beautifully expresses a child's faith in God, and the illustrations are gorgeous. A must-have book!
I See the Moon Nov 27, 1999
This book has a great message that young children can easily understand. The illistrator did a wonderful job! The entire book is just beautiful. Our two year old follows the little girl from sitting up in bed at the start of the book to laying down at the end. The flow of words is soothing and is easy for our daughter to memorize as well. This book is always in the "must read" pile at bedtime and is cherished by everyone in the family.
BEAUTIFUL! Jun 24, 1999
Not only does this story have a wonderful message that God is always nearby, the illustrations are absolutely captivating! My son just loves the pictures in this book, and you know what? So do I!!! I think this book is worth the purchase just for the beautiful illustrations which make this old favorite come alive!
