Item description for Faith in a Mustard Seed by Angela Pike...
There is a tormented soul that believes the Bible reads that sinners must die. Too many young people in Little Birch, West Virginia, do evil things out of wedlock. The killer also becomes deeply entangled with an already troubled family. They are five orphan siblings trying to keep their faith in the face of adversity. They look to their wise great-grandmother, ?Mom-Maw,? for guidance while, their grandmother, ?Belle,? is abusive and drives the children away. Maggie wants to pursue her dreams far away from the mountains. Her brother, Matthew, struggles to save the town from the serial killer. Kat, the oldest, looks desperately for love. Adam is ornery and terribly misguided. Mary, the youngest, must deal with an addiction. These kids learn the hard way that straying away from their religious upbringing breaks their spirit and brings them a lot of trouble. They also learn that people aren?t always as they may seem.

Mustard Seeds Musing Apr 28, 2002
This book shows us the truth that people are the same everywhere. Far removed from big-city crime and suburban "keeping up with the Joneses" this story, set in Appalachian West Virginia, wonderfully combines criminal hatreds with family and neighbor joys and friendships, but also dark jealousies. Little Birch and Sutton are real towns with real people and the full gamut of human experiences. This story is a sobering notice that the "country" and the "slow-paced life" are illusions, only fancies that people who have never had a chance to experience true little- town life carry in their imaginations. Mrs. Pike has done a wonderful job in character description and story development. The story line is fast-paced and exciting. I recommend this book for an excellent, enjoyable reading experience.

Faith in a Mustard seed - excellent read Apr 9, 2002
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though it is not the type of fiction I usually read.
Well written and suspenseful with detailed character development. Kept me involved and absorbed from the first to the last page.
Excellent reading, has all the makings of a television mini-series!
