Item description for Since Sliced Bread: Common Sense Ideas from America's Working Families by Andy Stern...

America's working families have been struggling for decades, but the creative, can-do spirit that has served the country well in the past is alive and well, even if it is lacking in so many of our so-called leaders. The Service Employees International Union, known as the most aggressive voice for working Americans, went to the people to find out what's wrong and what can be right in our economy and politics.

The result is a collection of smart, concise, and achievable ideas for solving the big problems that face society, at home and even around the world. These proposals represent paradigm shifts. Their optimism is infectious. It is possible to combat global warming, to provide good quality and affordable healthcare to everyone, to shore up Social Security without give-aways to the finance industry, to promote small-business entrepreneurship, to improve education at all age-levels.

Proposed by regular people from coast to coast and all walks of life, the ideas in Since Sliced Bread are a wake-up call to policy makers and citizens alike that, when the people lead, the leaders will follow.

Promise Angels is dedicated to bringing you great books at great prices. Whether you read for entertainment, to learn, or for literacy - you will find what you want at!

Reviews - What do customers think about Since Sliced Bread: Common Sense Ideas from America's Working Families?

Typical Liberal Garbage  Dec 27, 2007
This book contains the typical Liberal garbage - many "ideas" listed in the book have as their basis the philosophy of taking money from those with the fewest votes and rewarding the lazy and the stupid - in other words Communism. Communism has already been proven as the most evil philosophy of the 20th Century (over 100 million people tortured and murdered to fulfill its Liberal ideals) and has already been thrown on the trash heap of history. It makes no sense for this book (and idea contest it describes) sponsored by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to continue to be rummaging around in the garbage.
