Reviews - What do customers think about THE DEEPER INTELLIGENCE?
The language of the mind Jan 26, 2005
Just as blood DNA analysis became accepted in forensic investigation, Dr. Hodges research utilizing the "thoughtprint method" of analysis of written documents will become invaluable to solving cases. This book is very well-written and explains in detail how the subconscious mind is revealed and "speaks". A person's "thoughprint" can be revealed, just as an intuitive person can "read" behavior or verbal communication. He uses powerful examples that are understandable and beneficial to anyone interested in the study of human communication and behavior. As someone who holds a degree in Communication, reading this book was like a lightbulb coming on, pape after page. It is scientific and makes perfect sense. I would recommend this book especially to forensic investigators as another tool in solving cases.
Right-Brained Language from the Heart Dec 30, 2004
Andrew G. Hodges, M.D., is clearly writing THE DEEPER INTELLIGENCE as a psychotherapist and not as the forensic profiler of the Jon Benet books. However, he again explains and illustrates the language of the deeper mind and shows how different it is from that of our conscious mind and our emotions. He credits Robert Langs with the discovery of this language, but in his practice has found it "a quantum leap in self-understanding," and he wants all of us to benefit from what he has learned. Much of the book is directed to therapists and those they work with; but he speaks also to spouses, parents, codependents, ordinary individuals like me. His focus is in helping us to improve our one-to-one relationships--including the one we have with God. I especially appreciated learning about how the deeper mind is always attempting to guide us to take the paths in life that are truly in our best interest. He speaks, too, of the punishing mode that wants us to suffer and leads us to make unhealthy choices. (I understand St. Paul's dilemma better now, and my own--doing the things that I would rather not!) I cannot think of anyone who would not benefit from reading this book--anyone in a counseling relationship for sure. And the epilogue reviews for us the methods for using this new learning in our daily lives; so, "Thank you, Doctor!"
Christian wisdom Jan 28, 2004
For over 20 years I have worked with the Communicative Approach which is the basis of the Deeper Intelligence. Not once, has the material contradicted the Bible. In some cases I have treated it has helped remove obstacles that blocked people from accepting Christ as their saviour. It has also helped some people of faith have a more loving relationship with God. Well worth the time to learn about the language that the Deeper Intelligence uses to talk to us.

A Must Read! Jan 4, 2002
The Deeper Intelligence explains simply by examples powerful and complex psychological phenomena without intellectualization, shows how conscious feeling differs from unconscious perception, deals with "resistance" to therapy interpretations that bring healing, and even includes a chapter about the practical existential spiritual ground of the awesome unconscious mind. The book reaches out to everyone who is interested in the science and truth about the human person's potential for healing, growth, developement, and a fuller, happier life. Bravo, Dr. Andrew G. Hodges, M.D.!
Very helpful in understand others. May 25, 2000
This is obviously cutting edge material. I found this book very interesting and applicable to my own practice of medicine. One facet of the book that helped me relates to patients giving `illogical reasons' for doing something. Dr. Hodge's treatise on this unraveled some of the conundrums facing clinicians who have to sort through a stream of seemingly contradictory statements. This book has taught me to listen to the deeper voice more intently and to allow it to speak to me in hopes of helping the patient. For those interested in understanding the most delightfully baffling creatures on the earth, this book is a must.
