Item description for Rudiments on the Drumset by Andreas Berg...
Learn the basic techniques in a fun way! Supposedly rudiments are the necessary basis for playing the drums at all... but for students who are not so advanced, it's an absolute mystery why they have to struggle with what they feel to be boring technical exercises when all they really want to do is just play. But the rudiments are not boring at all if you can apply the new figure you've learned in its simple form directly to the drum set, relating it to grooves or fills from familiar music. This book can be introduced early in the instructional process or used as a supplement if you're learning on your own. As soon as the first contact with notation has been made and you re playing your first grooves, you can then have fun jumping into the world of rudiments. To this end, this book is separated into two "Tours." Tour 1 contains simple exercises for the beginner, while Tour 2 is directed at the advanced student who extensively knows and plays the rudiments.

Reviews - What do customers think about Rudiments on the Drumset?
Simply one of the best drum books you can get! A+++++++++ Jun 6, 2008
I bought this book/Cd package because I wanted to know how to take drum rudiments like the paradiddle and flam, and use them as drum fills or beats. OH MY !! The author of this book is such a great drummer and teacher, he successfully shows you how you can take each drum rudiment and apply it to the kit. He takes you through the single stroke rolls and triple ratamacues and swiss triplets etc. It is a great book well laid out. I must say the recording quality of the CD examples of grooves and feels are out of this world fantastic! You will not be lost on how to follow the standard notation, simply put in the CD and listen to MR. Berg wail on the drums. Andreas Berg(the author) started playing drums at the age of 11, was a member of the band "Toxoplasma" and has performed with such artists as "Framnz Kasper and the Violin Violence". He is the author of the book "Double bass Drum" and has been teaching for many years. I use this with my students and it has taught me some wonderful new ideas for my own drumming as well. If you get this you will enjoy it also. A great book/CD package!!!
