Item description for God's Welcome: Hospitality for a Gospel-Hungry World by Amy Oden...
Overview Gospel hospitality is more than being friendly or having coffee after worship. It's a way of life, a spiritual practice for both individuals and communities. It's full of surprises that change both host and guest or stranger because God's welcome feeds those who are hungry for forgiveness, rest, and peace; that is, for salvation. The author illuminates the spiritual practice of evangelism in the Good News by tracing God's welcome in ten Bible meditations and in drawing out eight implications for each congregation as a station for God's welcome feast. An appendix offers small group, worship, and fellowship activities that flow from this spirituality of evangelism.

Great for Individuals and Groups May 22, 2009
This resource is an amazing gift to the congregation. It has solid theological and Biblical grounding but is very easy to read. There are resources for small group and individual study in the back so that both an individual and perhaps a church group can work through it to deapen and widen their understanding of hospitality. It is short, so it would not be overwhelming, yet it is filled with valuable insights and reflections.
An inspiring look at a side of Christianity that is too often forgotten Aug 11, 2008
Christians are increasingly viewed as hostile throughout the world, the exact opposite of the religion's intent. "God's Welcome: Hospitality for a Gospel Hungry World" is a guide for Christians who want to bring their religion's hospitable roots back into public view. Author Amy Oden seeks to dispel the negative image surrounding Christianity and promote the hospitality and goodwill that early Christians held so dear. An inspiring look at a side of Christianity that is too often forgotten, "God's Welcome" is especially recommended for Christians who strive for self-improvement.
