Item description for Toward Jerusalem by Alexander Carmichael & Amy Carmichael...

"The Healer does not speak to us from a distance, He comes under our roof and sometimes we hear songs or fragments of song." This collection of songs is an offering of praise by the lover to her Beloved. "We cannot bring Thee praise like golden noon-light shining on earth's green floor; our song is more like silver of the moonlight..." These bits of "silver moonlight" were written by the founder of the Dohnavur Fellowship, a ministry which has brought help and the message of the light to those in darkness in South India.

Reviews - What do customers think about Toward Jerusalem?

Beautiful Truth  Oct 10, 2005
I cannot recommend this book highly enough! I purchased it originally because I had seen it quoted several times in several books by Elisabeth Elliot(I would also recommend any and all of her books to anyone)and also by her late husband Jim in the book The Journals of Jim Elliot (also a great book). She was such a huge spiritual influence on the both of them and now I know why. I can't even put it into words!! These poems are so well written and they flow so well but they're also so amazingly full of God-given truth that I'm surprised it fits on the pages at all! I've been so incredibly blessed by the little bit that I've read of this book so far and I can't wait to read the rest! If you're thinking about reading this book don't hesitate- get it and let your heart move that much closer to Christ as you read Mrs. Carmichael's amazing book Toward Jerusalem.
Wonderful  Apr 28, 2004
This is a wonderful collection of Amy Carmichael poems. They give us a window into the way Miss Carmichael saw the world around her and her Heavenly Father's love. I highly recommend this book it is a wonderful encouragement.
Deep and inspiring  Oct 10, 1998
Amy Carmichaels's collection of poetry is breathtaking. In Towards Jerusalem, Miss Carmichael shares her deep love for the Lord through her writings. They have a lyrical flow that helps you grasp the "bigger picture" of life and love. Poems such as "In Acceptence Lieth Peace" calmed and soothed my soul, and indeed did help me to see where peace shall come from. Her poems range in topic from Life issues to Love issues, but are all Christ-Centered. I was deeply touched and inspired. A good companion to read along with Towards... is: Candles in the Dark, another one of Miss Carmichaels inspiring books.
