More About Spiros Zodhiates
Reina-Valera 1960 is a Spanish translation of the Bible, first published in 1569 in Basel, Switzerland and nicknamed the Biblia del Oso (in English: Bible of the Bear). It was not the first complete Bible in Spanish; several others, most notably the Alfonsina Bible, were published in previous centuries. Since the 1960 revision was released, there has been much debate among conservative Christian groups which use the Reina-Valera Bible. However, the 1960 revision became the common Bible of many millions of Spanish-speaking Christians around the world, surpassing the 1909 in its reception. "

Reviews - What do customers think about KJV Complete Word Study New Testament-Hardcover?
Invaluable Sep 28, 2006
This is the study book I use most when reading the Bible. I use it more than all my commentaries and other dictionaries combined. It is very handy. The greek concordance in the back is probably my favorite part of the Bible. Outstanding resource.
There is nothing like having a convenient and usable reference to find the Greek words and their Greek meaning, and then looking at the Greek concordance in the back to see how that particular greek word is translated elsewhere in the New Testament. I like to have it right beside me any time any time I am reading the Bible.
Words like "power", "world", "do" and many others are all used to translate different Greek words. For example, Romans 7:15 has "do" 3 times.....it is 3 different greek words! The same for verses 7:16ff!
The word "power" translates the gr. exousia and dunamis, both translated "power" most of the time. They have different meanings and it is good to know which gr. word is being used. You can look it up in the Zodhiates text in about 15 seconds. There are many more instances of words like this.
KEY POINT: You do not have to be fluent or even moderately versed in Biblical Greek to learn with this reference, the book provides anyone all the information they need to get some real insight into the Biblical text without smothering you in advanced Greek language studies.
Nice to have! Jul 10, 2005
I'm not sure if this is the absolute best wordstudy NT on the market, but I will say that it is a handy book to have.
The Strong's numbers are included with the text which makes it easy to look up the corresponding Greek words. There is also a modest Greek dictionary/lexicon in the back.
Zodhiates does a good job of shedding some light on those harder to understand verses. The text is KJV.
I'm happy that I purchased this book. Of the books in my library, it tends to be pulled off the shelf more often than many others.
"Pulpit Helps" section missing May 29, 2004
This is a great resource. However...it is missing information that was initially contained in what was known as the "Pulpit Helps" edition (it was given away free at seminaries). If they would add that information back in, it would indeed be very, very valuable.
Get McReynolds Dec 19, 2002
I have to agree with the other writer that you are better off with the McReynold's (ISBN 0842382909) Word Study New Testament. It uses a more correct Greek text with a translation (NRSV) that matches that text.
There's better in my book Feb 25, 2002
If your a KING JAMES ONLY person, maybe this is your book...
If your a bigger fan of the UBS/NA based translations(NIV,NASB,NRSV,NAB,AMP + many others) I would STRONGLY recommend getting McReynold's Word Study Interlinear over this one.
McReynold's, like this this book, also has the Strong's # listed above every word, but in McReynold's you also have the running greek text as an interlinear. -- which I think would be very important for someone interested studying greek.....
Zodhiates other book "The Complete Word Study DICTIONARY to the NT" is not a bad asset to have on your shelf!
I would call his dictionary a poor man's BAGD (Bauer, Arndnt, Gingrich, Danker's -- top of the line Greek-English Lexicon).
If you can't afford BAGD (who can??), Zodhiates Dictionary would be a good substitute.....but I would get McReynold's interlinear/word study instead of this book.
I have both Zodhiates NT, and Zodhiates DICTIONARY and I use the Dictionary all the time (in conjunction w/McReynolds). -- I never use Zodh.'s NT. -- In fact, I should sell this thing, I need more room on my shelf!!!
Zodh's Dictionary, and McReynold's Word Study/interlinear pair up for a great combination. You can take the Strong's # from McReynold's and use Zodh's Dictionary for more detailed study than is found in the back of McReynold's book.
You will be much better off buying McReynold's interlinear/w.s. & spending your money on Zodh's DICTIONARY (not this book)
