A Great Individual or Small Group Study Sep 19, 2009
I would recommend this study for women of all ages. It seems that many women young and old, including myself, struggle or have struggled with feeling accepted for who we are and how we look. I was so excited to be reminded that I am wonderfully made by God. I also really appreciate the Accountability Moments in each lesson, which encourages gals to connect with each other throughout the week during the study. Enjoy!
Well Written and Inspirational! Sep 8, 2009
Wow, what a great read! I bought this book for my daughter to read as part of a youth group girls discipleship. The Youth Girls' Leader wanted to read it with the girls. I wanted to read it first, and I was amazed at how well it relates to Christian teen girls. I found the book speaks to women everywhere. It is sound spiritually, and filled with scripture backing up the author's advise. Most teen girls are hurting physically and spiritually, constantly dieting, denying themselves a healthy nutritional diet, and over-reaching exercise routines. If your daughter is stressed, hurting, not accepting of herself, low self-esteem, etc. then purchase this book, and read it together.
One of the best Jul 5, 2009
I have bought many, many books on this topic and this is by far one of the best. It is an easy read with great information put in an understandable and God-honoring way. It is worth every penny.

Every woman wants to know she looks good, that she is "fearfully and wonderfully made" as we are told in Psalm 139:14. The HEAL Principles are based upon this scripture. HEAL is a life style change, a shared program, and a group program. It is a program designed to help you examine yourself spiritually, and to get off the roller coaster of restrictive, harmful dieting. HEAL is a freedom filled approach to food, it is about living an abundant life, and it is centered on God rather than ourselves or the wisdom of the world. Broken into 6 Lessons, Heal will take you through each lesson, with Scripture, with reading, with application, and with personal reflections. There will be places where you are told to be accountable, to call your friends your doing the program with. The lesson titles are: You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made The HEAL Basics Healing Your Hunger Body Beautiful An Aisle of Grace Abundant Living This book is a wonderful tool, one I am finding helpful in my own life, and journey towards accepting myself and living abundantly. Allie and Judy have combined some wonderful concepts to live by in this book, I highly recommend this book to anyone with issues with their self image.
Please consider the message this book offers. Mar 26, 2009
I think the target audience for this book is young women who stuggle with all sorts of eating issues. I would definitely recommend this for a study for teen girls and 20 somethings. I would like to add that I am an older woman who was touched by the message of the book that our worth comes from God and He can free us from any burden, including enslavement to food.
