Item description for Peacemaking Pastor, The: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Church Conflict by Alfred Poirier...
Overview Poirier, pastor of Rocky Mountain Community Church in Billings, MT, offers a discussion on the importance of reconciliation ministry and practical tools for facilitating the peacemaking process within a church. The volume is ideal for seminarians, ministry leaders, and pastors.
Publishers Description Seminaries generally are not very effective in equipping pastors to be ministers of reconciliation, says pastor and experienced mediator Alfred Poirier. The result is pastors trained in biblical exposition, well-ordered worship, and good theology, but with little practical know-how about one of the most important functions they will be expected to perform: conflict resolution. The Peacemaking Pastor provides a survey of the nature and kinds of conflict typical in the pastorate to bring to light the need to recover the ministry of reconciliation. Poirier, chairman of the board of Peacemaker Ministries, shows pastors the importance of a reconciliation ministry, gives them a theological framework for peacemaking, and provides practical tools for facilitating the peacemaking process. Written by a pastor for pastors, this insightful book will encourage and equip seminaries and ministry leaders in their original calling-promoting a culture of peacemaking in the church.

Reviews - What do customers think about Peacemaking Pastor, The: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Church Conflict?
Superb, detailed, an excellent resource for every pastor Jan 11, 2007
This book addresses the need for true peace within in the church - and how to achieve that peace. Currently, the church often looks more like the world than the church. Repentance and forgiveness have been replaced by modern psychology. True love has been replaced by a counterfeit. This resource takes us back to the roots of Christianity - Jesus came to die, and through his blood we are reconciled to God so that we might have life everlasting. Even though the book targets pastors, it is also a very helpful resource for all, as we are all called to be peacemakers in the body of Christ. It builds beautifully on The Peacemaker, by Ken Sande, and gives additional guidance in a new, refreshing way.
