Reviews - What do customers think about Scouby KJV Audio Bible: King James Version?
Poor Sound Quality Nov 5, 2008
I bought this Mp3 Bible because in my opinion Alexander Scourby does the very best Bible reading. I also own this on cassette and CD, but the reason I bought this was for the convenience of having all the tracks properly labeled for ease of use in my iPod. Unless the tracks are labeled properly they won't play correctly (in consecutive order).
The problem I have with this set however, is that the sound quality is quite inferior to the same version of this in the CD format. I have done side by side comparisons, and the CD's definitely sound much better. I don't know what they did to these recordings in the mastering process but it sounds bad. It sounds muffled. Some sections worse than others. So for me, this was a total waste of money. I removed them from my PC and my iPod, and instead painstakingly labeled each track from my CD version. It was a lot of work, but it was definitely worth it. I definitely CANNOT RECOMMEND this MP3 version.
problem tranfering to my computer Sep 28, 2008
When the bible was tranfered to my computer, each book of the bible was listed three time are more. I have to deselected each book in order to tranfering it to my i pod. This process was very time consuming. I found the content and sound quality very good. Other then problem tranfering the bible, I give my purchase five stars.
MP3 Bible Apr 7, 2008
I bought this version of the Bible for my husband as a birthday gift. He was absolutely thrilled. When he opened the package, he immediately downloaded it to his MP3 player and listens to it every day while he is walking on his lunch hour or in the car on the way to and from work. It was a great investment and the price was excellent.
Outstanding Feb 25, 2008
I have always loved Alexander Scourby and this is by far one of the best purchases I've made for my laptop. I travel the globe and it makes my studies so much easier. I bought two copies and gave one to a dear friend. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to have the word read to them or needs it for study. I also use it for studying my lessons and preparing sermons. Thank you for offering this!
A necessary evil Nov 22, 2007
I have loved listening to my audio Bible for years, and of the many excellent "performer/readers," Alexander Scourby is my all time favorite. But! I feel that the Adobe set up is a little clunky and awkward to use, and I agree with the several others that found the sound quality inferior in light of todays sound processing capabilities. That being said, I consider myself lucky that I could even find Scourby's version of the Bible reading at all on a format that I could load into my computer, therefore I found this CD a necessary evil. Unfortunately for me this was the only set up that carried Scourby in a format that I believed I had to have. If you can do better, then by all means do so.
