Item description for Pilgrim Road: A Benedictine Journey Through Lent by Albert Holtz...

Overview
In the view of St. Benedict of Nursia, the Lenten journey is an inner pilgrimage with Christ into the deepest parts of ourselves, to be marked not so much by external observances such as fasting and self-denial as by a deepening of our relationship with God. Benedictine monk Albert Holtz develops that journey theme through meditations written during a fifteen-country pilgrimage during a sabbatical year. At the heart of each reflection is the lesson it teaches about our inner spiritual journey. By applying Benedict's monastic wisdom to the everyday concerns and aspirations of modern Christians, Pilgrim Road helps contemporary spiritual seekers keep Lent as a positive, meaningful, and fruitful experience.

Reviews - What do customers think about Pilgrim Road: A Benedictine Journey Through Lent?

A delightful and insightful travel guide for our journeys  Mar 5, 2007

I have read many, many books of this type: ones that guide us through the spiritual journey. This is absolutely one of the very best. As a spiritual director and occasional writer myself I tend to be critical of many publications, mainly because they sound like so many others or actually say so little. Fr. Albert's is fresh, clearly written, entertaining, and very perceptive--a travel guide on two levels! Wonderful! I've never been inclined to write a review for this site before, but this book I'd like for thousands of people to read. What that might do!
